For each coffee preparation, you need each different grind. Extra-coarse, medium-coarse, Coarse, medium, medium-fine, fine and very fine-these are the different ground for your special brewing styles. At first let’s see and explain the correct grind size for your preffered brewing method.




Extra Coarse Grind – the ground size looks very chunky. Extra coarse is best for your cold brewing method and cowboy coffee.

Medium-coarse grind- it is the middle of coarse grind, not so coarse and not quite medium alike to rough sand. Medium coarse ground coffee is suitable for chemex, cafe solo brewer and clever dripper.



Medium grind- in medium grind the ground size is similar to sand. Most fit for siphon, flat bottomed drip, Aero press( the brew time may be more than 3 minutes) and pour over cone shaped brewers.





Medium-Fine Grind- the ground coffee is just finer than the sand but not very fine. Pour over cone shaped and aeropress  can your preferred brewing method.







Fine grind-  smoothly, finer than table salt or sugar. Best suited  for espresso, stovetop espresso, aeropress brew.
extra fine- not powdered but size is smaller than sugar. It goes very well with espresso machines.

Super Fine- The ground coffee size is like powdered or flour. Turkish coffee is very popular with super fine grind.

Important note while grinding your own coffee

When the roasted coffee beans are sliced, most of the preserved aroma is dropped off and become easily infected. So grinding your roasted beans too early before brewing is not recommended. Eve around 15 minutes ago of brewing, it loses more than half of its flavour.
